St John’s Sixth Form has unveiled its new Learning Resource Centre (LRC), providing students with a dedicated space to study, collaborate and relax in a modern, comfortable environment designed exclusively for sixth formers.

The new facility represents the latest investment in enhancing the Sixth Form experience at St John’s, giving students access to a quiet and welcoming area where they can focus on their studies while also enjoying greater independence as they prepare for university, apprenticeships and future careers.

Located within the school’s dedicated Sixth Form area, the Learning Resource Centre offers students a calm and purposeful environment away from the bustle of the main school. The space has been carefully designed to support both independent study and collaborative learning, with comfortable seating, study booths and a relaxed atmosphere that encourages productivity and wellbeing.

The LRC is part of a wider Sixth Form provision that gives students exclusive access to facilities tailored to their needs. Alongside the new study space, sixth formers can also enjoy the Sixth Form Bistro, a vibrant social hub where students can unwind, meet friends and recharge between lessons.

The Bistro’s new menu offers a wide range of options to fuel busy days, including freshly prepared burgers, barista-style coffees, refreshing iced coffees and even Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Whether students are looking for a quick snack between classes or a place to relax with friends, the Bistro provides a welcoming environment at the heart of sixth form life.

Director of Sixth Form, Matthew Dunn said:

“We are delighted to open our new Learning Resource Centre and continue investing in facilities that enhance the experience of our Sixth Form students. The LRC provides a dedicated space where students can study in comfort, focus on their academic goals and prepare for their next steps with confidence. Combined with our exclusive Sixth Form facilities, including the Bistro and dedicated social spaces, this investment reflects our commitment to providing students with the very best environment in which to learn, grow and succeed.”

The new facilities are another example of St John’s commitment to creating an outstanding Sixth Form experience, combining academic excellence with modern learning environments and dedicated support. By investing in spaces where students can study effectively, socialise with friends and take greater ownership of their learning, St John’s is ensuring young people are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await them after Sixth Form.

With its dedicated Sixth Form facilities, welcoming community and strong focus on student success, St John’s continues to provide an environment where students can thrive both academically and personally as they take their next steps towards university and beyond.
