A Year 13 student at St John’s Sixth Form in Bishop Auckland has taken an important step towards a future career in healthcare after submitting his UCAS application to study Medicine.

Last week, Joe Meek sent off his application as he prepares for the next stage of his academic journey. While currently recovering from a broken tibia and spending more time than most in and around hospitals, Joe hopes that one day he will be able to make a difference to the lives of others as a medical professional.

Joe has built an impressive record both inside and outside the classroom. An excellent footballer and qualified FA referee, he is also captain of his football team and is recognised as a natural leader among his peers.

At St John’s Sixth Form, Joe studies A Level Chemistry, Biology and History, subjects that provide a strong foundation for a future in Medicine. His commitment to his studies has been matched by his engagement with the Sixth Form’s Early Entry programme, which supports students applying for competitive university courses.

Known for his humility and positive attitude, Joe has approached the demanding application process with determination and maturity. Alongside his academic strengths, he already demonstrates the compassion and interpersonal qualities that will serve him well in a medical career.

Everyone at St John’s Sixth Form wishes Joe every success with his application and looks forward to seeing where his ambitions and hard work take him in the future.
